Yesterday I was honored to be the feature presenter at the Westlake IRN chapter’s membership drive luncheon. We had a wonderful turnout of about 45 people – all eager to learn the value of networking. Both face-to-face and the type that is gaining popularity in today’s Social Media sites.

Social Media has become a passion of mine. Every day I personally reap the benefits of sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

And almost every day, I hear the same questions.

“Facebook? Isn’t that for college kids to socialize online?”

“LinkedIn, what’s that?”

“I just don’t understand this whole Twitter thing. Who cares what I’m doing at any given moment of the day?!”

These are all interlaced with the (also very) common blank looks of confusion from those who may not even have heard the word Facebook or Twitter.

My message to all of the kind souls I just described above, “Don’t despair! It’s not going to bite and it is a fabulous opportunity for marketing your business, service and/or products.”

As I move forward with this blog, I’ll bring you information about how to use social media to your business advantage, what the latest trends are and help you with advice on marketing, design and technology.

It’s a brave new world out there, for sure. Take my hand and let’s go explore together!
